Guinness World Records has recognised ResQVision software engineer James Bigg as the youngest software engineer (male), with the record achieved in Gold Coast on 30 March 2026. James shared his certificate publicly on 15 October.

From an interest in computing to work on coastal safety

In his announcement, James described the significance of seeing software move beyond a screen and into work that can help people. The Guinness profile also describes his interest in computing and his ambition to encourage other young programmers.

At ResQVision, that engineering sits inside a practical operating setting: coastal footage, detections, alerts and the people who review them. AFAC’s public SAIL resource names James alongside Riley Porteous of Surf Life Saving NSW as contributors to the conference paper.

A record worth celebrating, and work worth understanding

The certificate marks a personal achievement. The SAIL presentation story explains the operational work behind his contribution to the team.
